It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of CPA board member and Managing Director of the Prima Bakeries Group, Mark Norton.

Mark was a keen supporter of the PGI and a passionate member of the CPA. In recent years, he was a driving force behind the Cornish Pasty Community Fund and was instrumental in rolling out pasty making sessions in schools around Cornwall. In 2024, the Prima team helped us deliver sessions to over 600 children in the county, with Mark saying he wanted every child to have the opportunity to learn about food and how to cook.

Mark was incredibly proud of his businesses, which combined are the fourth-largest producer of Cornish pasties in the world and the largest locally-owned producer. In February this year the group became employee-owned with Mark stating that the businesses had always been proud of being family-owned and that this was a way of extending the “family” to include all of the staff.

Mark’s funeral will take place at 4pm on Thursday 19th December, at Treswithian Downs Crematorium.
He was keen to make sure that people didn’t feel obligated to wear black, so please wear whatever you are comfortable with.

Everyone is welcome. If anyone wishes to pay their respects but feels they are unable to/don’t wish to attend the funeral, the funeral procession will be coming via Prima on the way so you are welcome to stand in the car park. This will be at around 3.20/3.30.

There is also a tribute page for Mark to raise money for MND, please find the link below. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
