The Redruth International Mining and Pasty Festival is set to run on 20-21 September, with Saturday as the celebration of the great Cornish Pasty!
The Cornish Pasty Association will be running a pasty making marquee on Saturday 20 September. The marquee will be open from 9.30-4 and children aged 5-16 can book a session to make their own pasty with our expert bakers and we will bake it off for them to pick up later in the day.
Redruth Town Council will also be running some fun pasty making competitions with prizes from Proper Cornish, Prima, Rowes, Ginsters and Premier Cornish up for grabs. The categories are:
Best Traditional Cornish Pasty
Best Traditional Cornish Pasty
Non-traditional edible Pasty
Most Creative Crated Pasty
In the run up to the event, the Cornish Pasty Association is running a ‘Design Your Own Pasty’ competition for local primary schools to create their own unique pasty design. The winning school will win a free pasty making session with the Cornish Pasty Association for up to 60 students and the student of the winning pasty design will receive their own pasty making apron and hamper. Schools should email their entries to [email protected] by Friday 20 September, the winner will be announced at the festival via our social media channels.
